UPO, working in partnership with the District of Columbia Department on Human Services and ACS State and Local Solutions, provides TANF recipients with the necessary tools needed in today's workplace.
UPO/TANF Workshop Topics
UPO TANF serves an average of 273 customers during the year. TANF customers participate in the following training process:
- An Intense Orientation Session
- Futures in Work-Roadway to Employment Workshops
- Structured Job Searches
- Independent Job Searches
- Work Experience/Job Readiness Training
- Unsubsidized Employment

"Futures in Work" TANF Program
To enroll in the Futures in Work program, applicants must already be a TANF customer, a Washington DC resident and be at least 18 years of age. Additionally, all customers must pass a criminal background check and drug analysis screening.
To apply, please call (202) 231-7920 or visit the Petey Green Community Service Center located at 2907 Martin L. King Jr. Avenue SE from 8:45 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.
New customer orientation is held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 AM.
