P.O.W.E.R.: Providing Opportunities with Educational Readiness
Place your teen on the right track to academic success.

Providing Opportunities with Educational Readiness (P.O.W.E.R.) program tracks and
motivates middle school age youth through high school to pursue higher education.
Through the annual "summer campus" hosted at local universities, the Saturday Academy
and the Family Alliance, students and their family are engaged in long-term college
preparation and planning. During the summer of 2012, the program will operate on the
campus of Bowie State University a historically black college/university (HBCU) in Bowie, MD.

The ultimate goal of P.O.W.E.R. is for program students to enter college upon graduation from high school. The four components to P.O.W.E.R. are

  • Saturday Academy
  • Summer Campus
  • Family Alliance
  • Parent Resource Workshops
  • Applications are only accepted when slots are available. At this time, all program slots are full.

Contact Mr. Doug Appich at (202) 610-0466, Ext. 132 or Mr. Kenneth Carroll at (202) 610-0466, Ext. 126 with program inquiries.
